Allie Colleen Shares Deeply Personal, Raw, and Emotional Single “Mahogany Teakwood”

Written amid heartbreak, Allie Colleen’s latest single is a brave expression of pain, healing, and the power of songwriting to connect and comfort.

Allie Colleen, recognized for her unforgettable voice and powerful gift for songwriting, has released her first single for the year, “Mahogany Teakwood.” The very intimate and personal song was self-penned by Allie Colleen and produced, mixed and engineered by Dave Pahanish in Nashville with Sol Philcox Littlefield adding his special touch on acoustic guitar. Allie shared, “It is always scary and exciting putting a new song out and taking on a story that feels so personal to represent. I wrote this one by myself one night in the thick of it, and it is very, very scary for me to allow anyone into this world. I am still very much healing from this heartbreak, and it’s always hard to give voice to something so raw while you’re still in the process of mending. That is and will always be one of the greatest aspects of the songwriter—when we find the courage to set our conflicts free into the world, we are letting go of control and hoping (praying) that it reaches someone who needs it, someone who’s searching for their own words to begin healing. That is what I hope this song does: I hope it finds humans trying their best to heal.”

“I am heartbroken and think I will be for a very long time. I think that speaks volumes on the expectations and the reality of the love that was had— the love that was lost. That isn’t to say it can never return or remanifest into something even more beautiful, but right now… it just hurts. I hope this song finds other broken hearts and gives them a space of validation, not to heal, but to just feel. I’ve written plenty of songs to help you heal, babe… this one is just to feel—and I am right there with you,” Allie Colleen added.

“I still keep your soap in my shower and I say its for the men in my bed
I fall asleep to you holding me while I lay in the dark on their chest
When autumn comes and goes all that I’m left with is you
And your absence
Mahogany Teakwood, hold me tonight
Don’t say a word in the dark cause it won’t sound right
Let your memory fill this room
Put your hands on my body the way he used to
Time will pass, and I’ll run out
But I’d buy one hundred thousand bottles just to keep you around
Mahogany Teakwood
I check my phone when I wake up cause in my dreams you changed your mind
I’m losing grip on reality cause I swore it was real this time
But his breathing is off, and he’s a little too tall
But that candle still burns through the night by my bedside …”
